GEORGE B. M. WISEHAUPT, (22 Jan 1865 - 30 Jan 1934) grain, coal and lumber dealer, Port Royal, Juniata County, PA was born January 22, 1865, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County. He is a son of John and Jane (Rice) Wisehaupt.
GEORGE B. M. WISEHAUPT attended the Centre public school of Spruce Hill Township, and the Airy View Academy. He remained on the home farm until he was twenty-five years of age. He was then for two years engaged in butchering at Port Royal. In 1892, he embarked in the grain business, erecting an elevator at an expense of more than $6,000. He rapidly enlarged his lines of business, until he was also handling coal, lumber, railroad ties and machinery. Mr. Wisehaupt is a prominent stockholder and secretary in the Port Royal Creamery, and is also a stockholder in the Port Royal Bank.
He was married in Port Royal, in 1889, to Margaret, daughter of John Snyder, a merchant of Mexico, Juniata County. She was born in Port Royal. Their children are D. Franklin; Charlotte; John; Mary J.; Gertrude; and Margaret E. Mr. Wisehaupt has displayed remarkable enterprise and the progressive ideas so valuable in developing the resources of every community. He is shrewd and practical, and has done much to advance the interests of Port Royal. He is a member of Lodge No. 324, F. and A. M., of Mifflintown; and of the Lodge of the P. O. S. of A., at Port Royal. His political views are Democratic. He is a member of the Lutheran Church, and has been superintendent and teacher in the Sunday School.

An 1896 receipt from Wisehaupt's Feed Mill in Port Royal signed by George B. M. Wisehaupt. It appears that a $.40 slide and a $3.35 ball of twine was sold to James Milliken on September 2, 1896. (Photo contributed by Professor George N. Pierson.)
