PORT ROYAL - Martha C. Hartman, 96, of 313 Milford St., Port Royal, died at 9:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Brookline Manor Convalescent Home, Mifflintown RR1.
Born March 10, 1905, in Port Royal, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Underwood) Crozier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Hartman Sr., on Oct. 26, 1988.
Surviving are: two sons, Harold F. Hartman Jr., Oak Ridge, TN and Fred Q. Hartman, Vienna, VA; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Marianna) Ewert, Calumet, MI and Mrs. William (Amelia) McElwee, Cherry Hill, NJ; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Crozier and Grant Crozier, and one sister, Mae Horning.
A former elementary school teacher in Juniata County, she taught Grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse. She was a graduate of Port Royal High School and Shippensburg Normal School.
She was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Her funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Port Royal United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the funeral service Thursday at the church. There will be no evening viewing.
Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal is in charge of arrangements.
