On the southwest corner of Tuscarora and Second Streets is a new brick home owned and occupied by Jerry Walls and his wife Nancy. The Walls purchased this house from Melvin and Sarah Crimmel. It was a 2-story frame house. When the Crimmel's owned the property it consisted of 2 rental units. Mrs. Sarah Emery (Sarah Crimmel's mother) lived in one unit and Betty Price Basom and her mother lived in the other unit. Many other families lived there with the Crimmels as their landlord. One family I remember was Bob and Alice Gilson and their two sons. Prior to that the home was owned by “Tobe” and Cora Pfahler - Their son “Tubby” Pfahler operated a service station near where the Point Service Station is now located - of course this was before the highway was changed. Unfortunately not long after the Walls purchased the home it was destroyed by fire. Walls then built the lovely brick home on that property that is there today.
