Charlotte F. Peterson, 87, of Port Royal, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 16, 1936, in Evendale, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Arlene (Shirk) Varner. Her husband, Lee E. Peterson, whom she married July 27, 1957, passed away on Jan. 29, 2000.
She is survived by 5 children, Merrill Peterson and wife, Connie, Port Royal, Jerry Peterson and wife, Cindy, Mifflintown, Joyce Hockenberry and husband, Dave, Mifflintown, Frank Peterson and wife, Debra, Mifflintown, and Timothy Peterson, Port Royal, two brothers, Leroy Varner and wife, Peggy, and Melvin Varner and wife, Nancy, two sisters, Sandra Fogleman and Bonnie Griffith and husband, Ron, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Peterson.
She graduated from East Juniata High School in 1954.
She was a seamstress at Lyon Fashions for many years and retired from Northridge Center, where she worked in the kitchen.
She was a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church.
Charlotte enjoyed crocheting and traveling with her sisters, but the most important thing to her was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be a viewing Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
