Joyce M. Eaton, 79, of Port Royal, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Aug. 6, 1937, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Arlene G. (Bowen) McAlister.
Her husband, Richard H. Eaton, whom she married on Dec. 21, 1956, survives.
Surviving are her four children: the Rev. Dr. Brand W. Eaton and wife, Susan, of Dillsburg; Elaine M. Corman and husband, Gregg, of Mifflintown; Thelma E. Leister and husband, Gary, and Joseph H. Eaton and wife, Niki, both of Port Royal.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard B. McAlister and wife, Judy, of Port Royal.
Her one brother, William McAlister, preceded her in death.
Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Chief Logan High School, Lewistown. She was a former clerk stenographer for the Department of Health in Lewistown, and then later in Harrisburg.
Joyce retired as a chief deputy prothonotary for Juniata County. She served as a tax collector for Turbett Township for 12 years.
She was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, and the Eastern Star Chapter No. 260, Mifflintown.
Joyce enjoyed cooking and making holiday meals for her family.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Terry J. Brosius officiating.
Interment will follow at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Rex Funeral Home.
The family will be present from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
