RICHARD H. “DICK” EATON

Richard H. “Dick” Eaton, 90, of Port Royal, PA passed away at 10:14 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at William Penn Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.

Born on September 21, 1934 in Lewistown, PA he was the son of the late Mack Eaton and Marie (Hampton) Eaton. On December 21, 1956 he married his wife, Joyce M. Eaton with whom he was blessed to share 59 years of marriage before her passing on September 10, 2016.

He is survived by his children, R. Mack Eaton, Rev. Dr. Brand W. Eaton and wife, Susan, Elaine M. Corman and husband, Gregg, Thelma E. Leister and husband, Gary and Joseph H. Eaton and wife, Niki. As well as nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Eaton and sisters, Thelma Switzer and Donna Ball.

He served in the US Army where he was a fuel and electric rebuild specialist. He then worked at Standard Steel in Lewistown as a maintenance supervisor.

Dick was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Scottish Rite of Harrisburg. He enjoyed small game hunting and golfing when he was younger. Dick loved to read and watch sports like football, baseball and auto racing. He especially enjoyed going square dancing and bowling with his wife, Joyce, and spending time with his family. Most of his life he was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, PA with Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will take place at Old Church Hill Cemetery.

There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Eaton's memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Port Royal United Methodist Church, 105 Fifth Street, Port Royal, PA 17082.
