OBITUARY for RAYMOND C. “TOM” JACOBS

PORT ROYAL - Raymond C. "Tom" Jacobs, 71, of Port Royal, died at 5:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at his home.

Born on Feb. 18, 1942, in Port Royal, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Raymond W. and Evelyn B. (Bassler) Jacobs. On Oct. 22, 1960, he married his surviving wife, Dorothy I. (Hepner) Jacobs, with whom he shared nearly 53 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, David C. Jacobs and his wife, Tina, of Thompsontown, Randy E. Jacobs and his wife, Melissa, of McAlisterville, Scott W. Jacobs and his wife, Carrie, of Mexico; four grandchildren, Amanda Jacobs, Krysta Jacobs, Megan Jacobs and Austin Jacobs; and he leaves behind two great-grandsons, Landon and Jordan Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, making him the last of his generation.

Raymond was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal.

In earlier life, Raymond worked at Rae Sel for 22 years and during that time he worked part time for the Mifflintown Pharmacy. After which, he served as a custodian and courier for the First National Bank of Mifflintown until his retirement.

Tom enjoyed woodworking, racing, country music and attending auctions, but his true gift was being a "people person" and talking to people, wherever he went. His dog "Snoop" was his constant companion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, from Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Kenneth Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will follow in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the funeral home.
