OBITUARY for JOHN P. EWALT

John P. Ewalt, 71, of Port Royal RR3 [Tuscarora], died Thursday, December 5, 1996 at Lewistown Hospital.

He was born September 29, 1925 at Tuscarora, a son of the late Clyde C. and Grace E. Kilmer Ewalt.

His wife, Betty R. Leister Ewalt, whom he married December 6, 1947, died July 6, 1994.

He is survived by one son, Robert W. Ewalt of Port Royal RR1; one daughter, Mrs. Paul [Susan] Douglas of Ottawa, Canada; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and a brother, Wayne K. Ewalt of Boalsburg.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Becky Ewalt Woods.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II.

He was retired from the former Capitol Products, Mechanicsburg, and was an avid gardener, supplying fresh produce to many customers.

He was a member of the Tuscarora Valley High School Class of 1945 and a member of Tuscarora Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services were held Monday at Guss Funeral Home, Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles Sheaffer officiating.

Interment was in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal RR, where military services were conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tuscarora Church of the Brethren, c/o Dorothy Beasom, RR3, Port Royal, PA 17082; or the Mifflin-Juniata Unit of the American Cancer Society, Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044.
