OBITUARY for CHARLES S. MELOY

CHARLES S. MELOY, 97, of 406 N. George St., Millersville, died Saturday, September 28, [1991] in the afternoon at his home after a brief illness.

He was the husband of the late A. Meryl Smith Meloy, who died in Oct. 1990. They had been married for 68 years.

He was born in Port Royal the son of the late Charles L. and Maggie M. (Moyer) Meloy.

He resided in Lancaster Co. since 1941.

Before retiring he worked sixteen years as a foreman in the parts department at RCA. Before-that Mr. Meloy had been the owner and operator of an automotive garage in Port Royal for about 15 years, and a milk truck driver for Byers Ice Cream in Juniata County.

Mr. Meloy was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWI where he served as an aircraft mechanic.

He was a member of Willow Street United Church of Christ, where he served as S.S. treasurer, a member of the Willow St. Fire Co., a life member of the Southern Lancaster Co. Sportsman Association, and a former sec. of the New Providence School board.

He had been an instructor with the National Youth Administration.

Surviving are: a son, C. Richard Meloy with whom he resided, four grandchildren, 3 gr. grand children; a brother Evard Meloy of Port Royal, a sister Helen, wife of Robert Rice of Elizabethtown.

Services were held Tuesday at the Fred F. Groff Funeral Home in Lancaster. Interment was in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
