McCLURE, T. HARVEY - T. Harvey "Popeye" McClure, 72, of Port Royal RR2 [Spruce Hill], died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 1996, at his home.
Born January 18, 1924, in Turbett Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late T. Furman and Frances E. [Dysinger] McClure. His wife, Edna R. [McCahan] McClure, whom he married June 2, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Carlen D. McClure, Spruce Hill, Leslie Furman McClure, Liverpool RR2, Mrs. Jay [Ellen] Hockenbroch, Newville; brothers, L. Carl McClure, Port Royal RR2, James L. McClure, Port Royal RR3; two grandchildren, Stephen D. McClure, Thompsontown and Ryan P. McClure, Liverpool RR2; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth E. McClure, Thompsontown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Lepley, in 1983.
He was a 1943 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal. In his early life, he was a farmer and retired in 1981 from the sporting goods department at the Montgomery Ward Department Store, Lewistown. After his retirement, he helped his daughter at Spruce Hill Lunch and also worked for Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, for many years. He was a life member of Port Royal United Methodist Church and was a life member and secretary of Herringbone Hounds Hunting Camp. He was a 50-year member of Turbett Grange No. 781 and was a member of State Grange and National Grange.
Services were held Saturday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Gerald D. Wagner and Pastor Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment was An Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
