This house with the wrap-around porch sits at the southwest corner of Main and Third Streets.
This house was built between 1911 and 1928 because it didn't appear on the Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of 1911 but did appear on their 1928 map. (Note below indicates it was built in 1923.)
During the first half of the 1900s this was the home of Blaine and Jennie (Moyer) Shover. Blaine's sister, Irma also resided in the house.
Both Blaine and Irma were teachers at the Port Royal Elementary School on Milford Street. During much of that time, Blaine also served as the school's principal.
During the middle 1950s this was the home of Bob and Betty (Benner) Schlegel. Eventually it was acquired by James Kirkhoff.
