OBITUARY for DOROTHY LOUISE (FETTIG) TOWSEY

Dorothy Louise (Fettig) Towsey, 96, formerly of Port Royal and Mifflintown, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Shem Creek Health Center at South Bay at Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant, SC.

Born on December 5, 1927, in Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Karl Albert and Anabel (Noss) Fettig. On July 14, 1950, she married her late husband, Lawrence Benjamin “Ben” Towsey, with whom she was blessed to share more than 68 years of marriage before his passing on April 17, 2019.

She is survived by her son, Larry B. Towsey and Missy Huss of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Steven R. Towsey (Nicole) and Rachel L. Lewis (Chase), four great grandchildren; Benjamin, Evalynn, Miles, and Colin; and two sisters, Kathryn Wagner and Charlotte Burd.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Fettig and her sister, Anabel Conn.

She was a 1945 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School. Her career included social work which explains her efforts to help others. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown and enjoyed traveling and gardening but mostly spending time with family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
