OBITUARY for DORIS J. "DORIE" SHAW

PORT ROYAL: Doris J. "Dorie" Shaw, 61, of R.R. #2, Port Royal, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Jan. 19, 1942, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Pauline E. (Ehrenzeller) Horning and Glenn G. Horning of Port Royal. Her husband, Byron K. (Barney) Shaw, survives.

Also surviving is a son, Frank L. Beers III and his wife, Fran, Harrisburg and a daughter, Tracey L. Beers, Middletown; a step-daughter, Michelle L. Hart, Thompsontown; a brother, Richard Horning, Mifflintown; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruth K. Horning.

She was a 1959 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and a Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #298, Mifflintown and the Women of the Moose, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #925, Millerstown.

She enjoyed collecting antiques and making crafts.

She retired as a data processor for the State Legislature of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In order to honor Mrs. Shaw's wishes, there will be no viewing and the services will be private, with Pastor Robert L. Rhoades officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

The Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
