PORT ROYAL: Shirley J. Michael, 71, of Port Royal, went to be with the Lord at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on Nov. 22, 1935, in Port Royal, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late Fred C. and Margaret E. (Vawn) Wagner. Her husband of 50 years, Robert F. Michael, whom she married in Hagerstown, Md., on June 23, 1956, survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lori Kerstetter and her husband, Glenn, McAlisterville, Wendy Berlin and her husband, Ronald, Port Royal; one brother, William Wagner and his wife, Phyllis, Port Royal; one sister, Dorothy Swab, Mifflintown; two grandsons, Joshua Berlin, Washington, Pa., Cody Berlin, Port Royal and many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1953 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church.
She retired as an Avon Sales Representative and had served many years as a correspondent for the Juniata Sentinel, Mifflintown.
She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, but her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, from the Port Royal United Methodist Church, corner of Market and Fifth Streets, Port Royal, with Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will follow in Old Church Hill Cemetery, R.R. 2, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2007, from 5 to 9 p.m. with family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Port Royal United Methodist Church the corner of Market and Fifth Street, Port Royal.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Michael's memory to the Port Royal United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 396, Port Royal, PA 17082.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
