PORT ROYAL: Edgar A. "Ed" Lewis, 72, of 904 Milford St., Port Royal, died on Friday morning, March 5, 2010, at his home.
Born March 23, 1937, in Milford Township, Juniata County, a son of the late Albert R. and Mary (Bossinger) Lewis.
His wife, Louann (Groninger) Lewis, whom he married on March 25, 1961, survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Troy (Lisa) Searer of Hermosa Beach, Calif. and Marcie Bryner of Port Royal; one brother, Donald Lewis of Mifflintown; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Snook, Lewistown; four grandchildren, Mandy Bryner, Patrick Bryner, Gillian Searer, Jack Searer and Abigail Searer.
Ed was a retired employee of Sprint Telephone Company with 43 years of service.
He was a 1955 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
He was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, the Juniata County Sportsmen's Club, and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.
Ed was an avid tennis player and a turkey hunter. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Sadie.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Port Royal Lutheran Church, Port Royal, with the Rev. Charles L. Hershberger officiating.
Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburg, PA 17043 or to the Port Royal Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 267, Port Royal, PA 17082.
