OBITUARY - JANE SHEPLEY STIMMEL

PORT ROYAL - Jane Stimmel, 83, of RR1 Port Royal, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2002, at her home.

Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Riegelsville, she was the daughter of the late James Ray and Grace E. (Rupp) Shepley. Her husband, William C. Stimmel, preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1999.

Surviving are: two sons, William C. Stimmel Jr., Colville, WA and James F. Stimmel, New Bloomfield; brother, John H. Shepley, Port Royal; sister, Catherine Zimmerman, Rockville, MD; and four grandchildren.

She was a retired English teacher, having taught at the former Tuscarora High School, Port Royal and Juniata High School, Mifflintown.

She was a 1937 graduate of Sellersville-Perkasie High School and a 1941 graduate of Cedar Crest College, Allentown.

She was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, where she served for many years as organist and a member of the choir. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Women's Teachers Society and the Juniata Chapter of Retired School Employees.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Port Royal Lutheran Church, with Rev. Marton J. Roberson officiating. Interment will be in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

There will be no viewing, but the family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.

Memorial donations may be made to the Port Royal Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 267, Port Royal, PA 17082-0267.
