OBITUARY:
ESTHER M. SHELLENBERGER, 76, of 222 Market Street, Port Royal, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, January 3 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born Aug. 3, 1905, in Oliver Township, Perry County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Jessie McCoy Schwab. Her husband, L. O. Shellenberger survives.
Also surviving ate two daughters and two sons: Mrs. John I. (Jessie) Gilson of Mechanicsburg, Patsy A. Harris of Drexel Hill, Pa., Leo R. Shellenberger of Port Royal and Charles E. Shellenberger of Reedsville; one sister: Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Charron of New Cumberland; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shellenberger served the Juniata County Republican Party in many capacities: as a committee woman, membership chairman, member of the executive board of Republican women and was awarded several state prizes. She was also auditor of Juniata County for 16 years. She was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, the Turbett Grange No. 781 and a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Friendship Fire Company, Port Royal.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Suder officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Walker Township, Juniata County.
