OBITUARY for HELEN TOWSEY SHOPE
Helen T. Shope, 89, of 115 Pisgah State Road, Shermans Dale, died late Friday, July 24, 2009 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Mrs. Shope was born on Monday, February 9, 1920 in Port Royal and was the daughter of the late W. E. and Orpha (Stuber) Towsey.
She was a member of the Shermans Dale United Methodist Church were she had served as assistant organist; she was a graduate of Port Royal High School, class of 1938, a graduate of Central Pennsylvania Business School, was a member of Shemans Dale Ladies Aid, AARP, Shermans Dale Senior Citizens, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former employee of he former Harrisburg National Bank, Mechanicsburg Naval Depot and was a caseworker for the Dept. of Welfare with 25 years service.
She was the widow of Neil E. Shope (1998) and is survived by 4 sons, Larry, Fred and Andrew of Shermans Dale and Dennis of Landisburg. 3 daughters, Jean Kirk of Shermans Dale, Jill Kline of Carlisle and Nancy Shope of Michigan. 2 sisters, Gladys Hosterman of Florida and Betty Daughenbaugh of Port Royal. 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Jean, and brother William and a grandson, Tyler.
Services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the Boyer Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St., New Bloomfield. Burial will be in Young's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Eastern Star services will be held at 12:45 PM.
