Jacob Groninger was the son of Jacob and Nancy (Hench) Groninger. He was born January 1, 1827 in Turbett Township, Juniata County. He married Margaret Jacobs, a daughter of John and Mary Jane (Kepner) Jacobs. Jacob and Margaret had six children: Henry Albert, Howard Thomas, Martha A., John M., Mary Bell, and Holmes Brady.
Jacob died July 25, 1907 and he and Margaret are buried in the Old Church Hill Cemetery.
