He was a 1944 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School.

LEWISTOWN: DONALD W. TURBETT, 82, of 706 Highland Ave., Lewistown died at 2:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born July 28, 1926, in Tuscarora, he was a son of the late Brade A. and Erie (Mickey) Turbett. His wife, Anne Reed (Morgan) Turbett, whom he married Sept. 8, 1950, survives.

Also surviving: are children, Timothy M. Turbett and his wife, Nancy, of Andover, Mass. and Nance A. Sanges and her husband, Gary, of Lewistown; grandchildren; Monica L. Czyzyk and Adam Turbett.

The last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Lewistown Insurance and Realty Company and the Long-Turbett Insurance Agency, Mifflintown.

He was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewistown Rotary Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce, and B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 663.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his camp in New Lancaster Valley.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
