Alton Luther Meloy was a the son of Charles Leonard and Margaret M. (Moyer) Meloy. He was born November 28, 1895 and died August 12, 1978. He married Ruth Elizabeth Boyer and They had three daughters: Betty, Carol and Gayle.

OBITUARY for ALTON L. MELOY

ALTON L. MELOY, 82, of Fourth Street, Port Royal, died Saturday, August 26, [1978], in the Lewistown Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1895, in Juniata County, a son of the late Charles L. and Margaret Moyer Meloy.

In addition to his widow, Ruth E. Boyer Meloy, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Cunningham of Mifflintown RD2, Mrs. Edward (Carol) Shevenock of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Kenneth (Gayle) Cisney of Port Royal; two brothers, Charles S. Meloy of Willow Street and Evard N. Meloy of Port Royal; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Rice of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Meloy retired in 1960 from the Port Royal National Bank where he had served as cashier and later was elected as president of the bank. A veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church; IOOF Lodge 131, Mifflintown; and American Legion Post 298 of Mifflintown.

Services were held Tuesday, August 29 at 2 p.m. in the Rex Funeral Home in Port Royal, in charge of Rev. Robert W. Suder. Interment was in Old Church Hill Cemetery at Port Royal.
