Larue Strawser Whistler was the daughter of Eddie and Dorothy (Hockenberry) Strawser. She was a 1957 Graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal, PA.

Persons (L-R) Nellie Landis, Virginia Ard, Nancy Ard, LaRue Strawser, Nellie Landis Taylor (Teacher), Mary Lou Burd, Blanche Leonard, and Joyce Ard. Aunt Nellie wrote in her memoirs the following: "Teachers were in great demand in 1942. Two days before school was to start she was asked to return to O P. in 1943." She started there in 1929.

This picture was taken at the Freedom School (Turbett Township) Chrismas Play in 1947. Some of the students are named. Although she is not in the picture, Ruth Bergstresser Zendt was the teacher.
