OBITUARY for ABRAHAM LINCOLN LONGACRE
Abraham Lincoln Longacre, Sr., 79, of Dauphin, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Phillips) Longacre.
Abraham was born in Juniata County on February 12, 1935, a son to the late Benjamin Franklin and Effie Mae (Kohler) Longacre.
He worked as a nurse at the former State Hospital in Harrisburg; and he proudly served in the United States Army.
He loved to hunt and fish; he enjoyed tinkering with old cars with his son, and he was known as "the Wizard" as he could fix anything. Most of all, he enjoyed being "Pappy", playing with his grandchildren always made him smile and laugh. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his loving wife, Janet, he is survived by his children, Abraham L. Longacre, Jr. (Lisa) of Dauphin, and Sonja Maneval (Randy) of Dauphin; 5 grandchildren, Abraham Longacre, III (Tammy), Lauren Longacre, Ashley Maneval, Lindsay Longacre, and Aidan Longacre; a great grandson, Abraham Longacre, IV; his brother, Benjamin Franklin Longacre, Jr; his sister, Edith Gaskin; a niece, Debra Phillips; and a nephew, Dale Phillips.
Viewing will be Friday, June 27, 2014 from 10-11am at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg, with a funeral service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow in Dauphin Cemetery.
