Stanley Russell Sieber was the son of David C. and Isabella M. (Kauffman) Sieber. He was born October 26, 1912 and died July 15, 2005. He graduated from Port Royal High School in the Class of 1930. He was married to Ruth E. Nelson.

OBITUARY for STANLEY R. SIEBER

STANLEY R. "STAN" SIEBER, 92, of Thompsontown, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2005, at his home.

He was born October 26, 1912 in Locust Run, Juniata County, a son of the late David C. and Isabella [Kauffman] Sieber. His wife of nearly 69 years, Ruth E. [Nelson] Sieber, whom he married October 1, 1936, survives him.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Sue Lyter and husband Ron, Willow Street; a son, S. Russell "Rusty" Sieber and wife Sandra, Thompsontown RR1; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Ann Sieber, in August of 1990, and is the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

He was a 1930 graduate of Port Royal High School, Port Royal.

He was a life member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown, where he served on the church council, was the Sunday School superintendent taught Sunday school and sang in the choir, He served as mayor of Thompsontown from 1953 until 1973; Scout Master for Troop 69 Thompsontown; and was a member of Tennis Lodge 371, F&AM, Thompsontown. Since 1976 he served as curator of the Smith School Thompsontown, giving tours to many school children over the years

In 1931, he started working as a belt boy for Thompsontown Industries, eventually retiring as plant manager in 1974 after 43 years of service. He also owned and operated Sieber's Sewing Services which specialized in selling and repairing sewing machines

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, from Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Anna M. Ritter officiating

Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
