First day of deer season, 1951 at 9:30 after 23 years of hunting Ralph bagged this first legal deer "Old Barney". He was the envy of the hunters that had previously seen him, 19 points, 28" spread and circumference of 7 inches. In 1953 Boone & Crockett Club scored him 207.7 to win first place in the Non-Typical category. In 1965, Ruth entered him in the first PA Deer Records Banquet in Harrisburg. At that time he placed fourth in the United States and 18th in the world for Non-typical racks.

C. Ralph Landis was the son of George G. and Minnie M. (Souders) Landis and the husband of Ruth Mae Varnes. He was born November 3, 1914 and passed away July 28, 1960.
Ralph and Ruth had two daughters: JoAnne Landis Heckert and Nellie Landis Sorensen.
