OBITUARY for ELAINE L. COLYER
Elaine L. Colyer, 87, of Mifflintown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mifflintown.
Born on April 14, 1939, in Port Royal, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late John Steward and Mary A. (Ranck) Woods. On December 16, 1958, she married her surviving husband, North F. Colyer, with whom she was blessed to share over 67 years of marriage before her passing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David C. Colyer and his wife Dianna of McAlisterville and Todd M. Colyer and his wife Heather of Thompsontown; four grandchildren, Toby L. Colyer and his wife Hannah, Heather A. Lambrecht and her husband Jeremy, Jenna C. Boughter and her husband Zackery, and Leah R. Goss and her husband Jared; six great grandchildren; and one brother, John S. Woods, Jr. of Mifflintown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter in law, Susan R. Colyer and one brother, William C. Woods.
Mrs. Colyer is a 1958 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.
In earlier life, she was employed as a Nurse’s Aide and later retired as an Activities Assistant at the former Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Elaine was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, the McAlisterville Senior Citizens Center, and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Governor Mifflin Chapter No. 260, Mifflintown.
She enjoyed shopping, listening to Southern Gospel hymns, taking a bus trip now and then, going out to eat, word search puzzles, and cooking; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren and attending their different events.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Ray Bailor officiating. Interment will follow at Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
