In addition to her husband, she is survived by her step-children, David Brown and wife Dianne of Mifflintown, and Dana Swartwood and husband Cliff of Oakland Mills; step-grandchildren, Zachary Brown, Ryan Swartwood and wife Racheal, and Tyler Brown and wife Jordan; step-great grandchildren, Evelyn and Lydia Swartwood, and Logan Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Stitt, making her the last of her generation.

Sandy was a 1968 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal [last class to graduate from the school] and completed a program at the Maryland Medical Secretarial School in Hagerstown, MD.

Her memberships included the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Juniata County Library, Walker Grange #786, American Folks Musician Association, and the Central PA Callers Association.

She had many hobbies to keep her busy, including eating out, traveling, shopping, going to flea markets, attending yard sales, diamond art, reading, tending to her many flower gardens, collecting angels, and square dancing. Sandy loved to crochet and knit, while always making sure her family and friends were well stocked with dish cloths, towels, scrubbies, scarves, and blankets. She made sure each family member also always received a card for birthdays and each holiday.

Her favorite time was spending time with her family, especially making sure there was plenty of shrimp and meatballs for the annual Christmas evening gathering.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Graham Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
