OBITUARY for WILLIAM BLAIR HAINES
Mr. William Blair Haines of Ardenheim near Huntingdon was found dead in his bed early Sunday morning, February 25, 1945, at 12:40 o'clock.
Mr. Haines and his wife retired at 10 pm Saturday and at that time he made no complaint of feeling ill. Mrs. Hains awoke during the night and found that her husband had passed away in his sleep. She then summoned her neighbors. Mr. Haines apparently died of a heart attack. He had been busy about his home during the day and had spoken of being ill.
He was born May 2, 1874 near Port Royal and was a son of William R. and Margaret A. Shawbell Haines, both of whom are deceased.
He is survived by his wife, the former Henrietta Cleste Goodman, and these sons and daughters: Mrs. W. J. Taylor, Altoona; William Paul Haines, Pittsburgh; Frank S. Haines, Petersburg; Mrs. Sarah Mountain, Altoona; Mrs Ethel Tussey, Harrisburg; James Haines, at home; John Haines, with the United States Army overseas; Mrs. Dorothy Taylor, Port Royal; and Mrs. Mary Norris, York. Also surviving are these borthers and sisters: John Haines, Spruce Hill; Mrs Elizabeth McKinley, Burnham; Mrs Olive Kurtz, Burnham; Mrs. Anna McKnight, Spruce Hill; and Mrs. Edith Ard, Port Royal.
Mr. Haines had been a resident of Ardenheim for the past nine years. He had been employed as a freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from active duty in 1936. Priot to moving to Ardenheim he had been a resident of Huntingdon and was a member of the United Brethren Church.
Funeral services will be held in the Ardenheim Church of the Brethren to-day (Tuesday) at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. G. E. Kelly, after which internment will be made in the [New} Church Hill Cemetery near Port Royal.
The casket will be opened at the cemetery to give his friends the opportunity to view the remains. it is expected that the funeral cortage will arrive at the cemetery about 4:30 pm.
