OBITUARY for VERDELMA "VERA" SAUNDERS GILSON
Verdelma "Vera" Gilson, 67, of 508 Main St., Port Royal, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 1990, at her home.
Born on January 9, 1923. in Wilmington, DE, she was a daughter of the late Albert O. and Fannie [Beuhm] Saunders. Her husband, Ralph M. Gilson Jr., survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Ronald E. Gilson, Newburg, Ralph M. Gilson III, Port Royal RD1, and Richard W. Gilson, East Salem; one daughter, Kathleen S. Gilson, Harrisburg; a sister, Doris Tharpe, Honey Brook; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
A brother, Albert C. Saunders, preceded her in death.
She was a former Avon sales representative and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mifflintown, Friendship Fire Company ladies auxiliary, Port Royal and American Red Cross Gray Ladies and a Helpline volunteer.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Charles Byrd and Pastor Steve Nelson officiating. Interment was in the Old Church Hill Cemetery.
