OBITUARY for GLADYS M. KEPNER
Gladys M. Kepner, 86, formerly of Port Royal, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at North Ridge Center Personal Care in McAlisterville.
Born on May 7, 1940, in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late William and Ida (Strawser) Roe. In August 1960, she was married to her first husband, Fred L. Arnold, with whom she was blessed to share over 31 years of marriage before his passing on July 12, 1992. In December 1998, she married her second husband, Ralph M. Kepner, with whom she was blessed to share over 23 years of marriage before his passing on October 5, 2022.
She is survived by her children, Sheri Landis and her husband Jim of McAlisterville, Scott Arnold and his wife Jessica of Evendale, and Fred Arnold and his wife Toni of Evendale; seven grandchildren, Erin Byler and her husband Jared, Evan Landis and his wife Tess, Cassey Hicks and her husband Brett, Blake Armes and his wife Ravyn, Destiny Arnold, Jayce Arnold, and Cooper Arnold; five great grandchildren, Cameron Landis, Kamryn Hicks, Zander Hicks, Levi Armes, and Louis Armes; and two siblings, Kathryn Frymoyer of Evendale, and Lynn Roe of Thompsontown.
Mrs. Kepner was a 1958 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus.
Holding various jobs throughout the years, she was employed as a State Worker, helping on the family farm, Real Estate Agent, Bus Driver, and a Manager of Stillhouse Storage in Port Royal.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mifflintown where she was involved in the church’s choir, Awana program, and attended bible studies. In her earlier life, she was a member of the Grange.
Gladys enjoyed reading, traveling, crafts, playing piano, and being outdoors; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the River Church, 105 CJEMS Lane, Mifflintown with Pastor Bob Landis officiating. Interment will be private at St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9th at the church.
