OBITUARY for SHAWN F. KEPNER
Shawn Franklin Kepner, 57, of Port Royal passed away on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026 at his parents' home.
Shawn was born on Feb. 22, 1969 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He is survived by his parents, Spencer and Paulette (Brouse) Kepner of Port Royal, daughter, Asia Marie Kepner, brother Joel Kepner and wife, Betsy, and their children, Grace and Lincoln, brother, Aaron Kepner, and his dog, Teddy, who was always by his side. He is also survived by Summer M. Goodling, who was like a daughter to him, her boyfriend, Gary Johnson, and children, Novaleigh and Radd. He will be missed by his Aunt Cherry and Uncle John Remsen, Aunt Nancy Kepner, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen D. and Martha Kepner and Paul and Marie Brouse, and an uncle, Glen “Skip” D. Kepner.
He appreciated all his friends throughout his life and fellow employees at the Juniata County Courthouse.
Shawn graduated from Juniata High School in 1987 and received an associate’s degree in drafting from Lincoln Technical School in Allentown.
He did different construction jobs for people and himself until he started working in the maintenance department at the Juniata County Courthouse for the past nine years doing multiple kinds of jobs.
Shawn enjoyed fishing and hunting as a younger man and, in his later years, riding his motorcycle, archery, playing tennis and golfing with friends and relatives, especially with his two brothers and dad when he was on the winning side.
His committal service in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal will be private.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Journey Christian Church, 10110 William Penn Highway, Thompsontown. All are welcome to greet the family and enjoy a light meal.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution in memory of Shawn may be made to VNA Hospice, 2 East Arch Street, Shamokin, PA 17872.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mina Makary and all his kind, professional staff at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital oncology office and infusion clinic, to Dr. Todd Taylor for his compassionate care, and to hospice nurse, Brandi Yoder who cared for Shawn in his final weeks. They also appreciate all the prayers, cards and visits from friends and family, as well as the meals that were provided almost on a daily basis and to the one who organized it all, Becky Freed.
