OBITUARY for BARBARA J. SHEARER
Barbara J. Shearer, 60, of Port Royal passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on September 24, 1965, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Fry and Grace (Swartwood) Fry.
On September 28, 1985 she married her surviving husband, Joseph Shearer, and was blessed to share more than forty-years of marriage.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children Rachel Shearer, Greg Shearer and Ellen Mingle and her husband, Chad. She is also survived by siblings, David Fry and wife, Linda, Adam Fry and wife, Renee and Jason Fry, as well as various nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a 1983 graduate of Juniata High School.
She worked aa a teller for the Juniata Valley Bank and drove a van for Imes Bussing. Barbara also sold Tupperware. Mrs.
Shearer was a member of Farmers Grove Church of the Brethren. She was a former Girl Scout Leader. Barbara enjoyed crafting, hanging out with her daughters and doing whatever they were into, helping with 4H, selling Tupperware and most of all spending time with her family, as she was very family oriented.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Pastor Dave Shuman officiating.
Interment will follow at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 6th, 2026 at the funeral home and on Tuesday, April 7th from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Shearer’s memory may be made to, St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
