OBITUARY for LINDA KAY SMITH

Linda Kay (Leonard) Smith, 78, of Port Royal, went to Heaven on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 28, 1947 in Centre, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Newton Leonard and Dorothy Mae (Swartz) Leonard Wileman.

She is survived by two children, Sherry Lynn (Smith) Bowersox and husband, Michael, of Port Royal and Ronald Scott Smith of McAlisterville, three siblings, Thomas “Sonny” Leonard of Mifflintown, Madge (Leonard) Fisher and husband, Levi, of Mifflintown, and Elsie (Leonard) Reigle and husband, Gary, of Centre, ten grandchildren, Bridget Rapp and husband, Lewis, Emily Shirley, Breanna Waltaire and husband, Esaie, Micah Harbst and wife, Megan, Chase Smith, Collin Smith, Elizabeth Bentz, Hali Homer, Gabriel Clay, and Jordan Bond and companion, Danelle Tassa, two step-grandchildren, Nathaniel Bowersox and Justin Bowersox and wife, Stephanie, and twelve great-grandchildren, Toby and Troy Rapp, Greyson Shirley, Alex and Jacob Williamson, Isaiah, Hannah and Rebecca Waltaire, Kinsey and Rachel Harbst, Atreus Bond, and Myelyn Bowersox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ronald Franklin Smith, on Sept. 18, 2021, one daughter, Candace “Candy” Renee Bond, on January 26, 2025, and one brother, Ray Larry Leonard on Dec. 9, 2025.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mifflintown.

Linda loved children. She babysat for many of her friends throughout the years, and many children grew up calling her Aunt Linda. She was a Girl Scout leader, and helped out with scouts, fundraising and band boosters.

She worked at the East Salem Shirt factory and Lyons Fashions.

She enjoyed gardening, taking care of flowers, reading, doing puzzles, camping, going to church and following several ministers on TV. But above all else, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Her viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and on Thursday, Feb. 19 at First Baptist Church, Mifflintown, from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Sean McGill, officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
