MARIAN POTTER BURD

Marian E. (Kerlin) Potter Burd, 82, of Port Royal, PA passed away unexpectedly at 10:30 pm on Thursday January 16 at Lewistown Hospital with her girls by her side.

Born on August 25,1942 in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Donald H. Kerlin and Mildred Brackbill (Titzell) Kerlin.

On July 8,1994 she married Paul W. Burd and they shared 20 years together before his passing in 2014.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori M. Potter, Port Royal and Missy P. Becker and husband Steve of Mexico; one granddaughter, Mallie B. Love and companion Waylon Rowles; one grandson, Landry S Becker; and a great-granddaughter, Vanessa Grace Rowles. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Harry Erhard and sisters-in-law, Judy and Vicki Kerlin; her stepchildren and their families; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Donna Robinson.

She was preceded in death by three siblings, Barbara “Barb” Erhard, Craig “Butch” Kerlin and Harold “Pete” Kerlin, making Marian the last of her generation.

Marian was a 1960 graduate of Juniata Joint High School where she eventually went on to become the secretary/study hall monitor and continued working there for several years.

Throughout her career she held various secretarial jobs at Fermanagh Building and Loan, Juniata County Courthouse, Rickenbaugh Building Supply, The Times Newspaper and she was also a cook at Shirley’s Little Restaurant.

She enjoyed playing tambourine for square dances and sitting on her back

porch and watching the birds. In earlier years, she spent a lot of time at the Kerlin river property where she loved to fish, have cook-outs and spend time with the family and friends.

The thing she will be remembered for most is her cooking and delicious desserts which she loved to share with others and if you stopped to visit, you could be sure she would brew a fresh pot of coffee for you.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA.

Per her request there will be no service, but the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
