OBITUARY for BYRON R. HOYER
Byron R. Hoyer, 84, of Port Royal and formerly of Reading, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his residence.
Born on November 21, 1939, in Reading, Berks County, he is the son of the late Arthur A. and Charlotte E. (Bader) Hoyer.
He is survived by one daughter, Julie A. (Hoyer) Berry and her husband Frank A. Berry of Reading; two grandchildren, Timothy A. Berry and Chelsea K. Berry; three great grandchildren, Sophie M. Bailey, Brenyn P. Bailey, and Matthew E. Bailey; and one sister, Dorothy L. Hoyer of Lititz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur A. Hoyer, Jr.
Byron was a 1957 graduate of Wilson High School in Sinking Spring and was employed and retired as an Over the Road Truck Driver.
Byron was a member of the Tuscarora Heritage Days Tractor Club in East Waterford.
In earlier life, he enjoyed following his friend, Donald Kreitz and Donald Kreitz Racing and, more recently, raised buffalo on his farm.
His hobbies included working on model railroads, snowmobiling, and farming where his passion was working with land and being outdoors.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Shillington, Berks County.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 PM until the time of the funeral services at 2:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Byron’s memory can be made to the Tuscarora Heritage Days, 6201 Route 75 South, East Waterford, PA 17021.
