OBITUARY for JAMES M. HUBLER, JR

James M. Hubler, Jr., 79, of Port Royal, passed away at 7:50 AM, Monday, June 17, 2024, at his residence.

Born on December 29, 1944, in Port Royal, Juniata County, he is the son of the late James M. Hubler, Sr. and Irene M. (Reed) Hubler.

On September 2, 1972, he married his surviving wife, Mary P. (Fluke) Hubler.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Hubler and wife, Heather of Harrisburg. He is also survived by siblings, William F. Hubler and wife, Barbara of Mifflintown and Betty Ann Barrera and husband, Arthur of Delray Beach, Florida, grandchildren, Aaron Hubler, Jacob Hubler, Emma Hubler, Elijah Hubler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Kathy Jo Felmlee, Rebecca A. Hubler Decker as well as a stepmother, Lois Price Hubler.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal.

He was a member of the Reserves of the United States Army. Mr. Hubler was employed with Hubler Well Drilling, Port Royal, working alongside his father and eventually taking over the business. In later life he worked for Zimmerman Trucking for ten years, where he was proud to reach the one million miles traveled mark.

His memberships include the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM in Mifflintown, where he was a past Master, a lifetime member of the Friendship Fire Company of Port Royal, and a member of the Sand Spring Gun Club. In earlier life he attended the Port Royal Presbyterian Church.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, and an avid Hershey Bears fan attending games and watching them on tv. He was a big Port Royal race fan and traveled the racing circuit. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandson play travel baseball.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 21, 2024, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Spence Kepner officiating. Interment will follow at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

A viewing will be held from 9:45 until 10:45 AM when there will be Masonic funeral rites conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Hubler’s memory can be made to the Friendship Fire Company, P. O. Box 274, Port Royal, PA 17082.
