OBITUARY for RICHARD G. “RICH” HORNING

Richard G. “Rich” Horning, Sr., 78, of Port Royal, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Born on June 11, 1945 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Glenn and Pauline (Ehrenzeller) Horning.

He is survived by his son, Richard G. “Richie” Horning, II and daughter, Michelle DiMidio. He is also survived by six grandchildren as well as friend and caregiver, Norma Sheetz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris J. “Dorie” Horning Shaw.

Mr. Horning was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School [Rich is pictured with the Tuscarora Valley graduation class of 1963] and Lock Haven University. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force.

Rich along with his father, Glenn, owned and operated Horning Oil in Port Royal.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, at the New Church Hill Cemetery, Route 75 South, Port Royal with longtime friend Spence Kepner officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
