OBITUARY for DAVID G. PHELAN

David G. Phelan, 75, of Port Royal, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his residence.

Born August 15, 1947 in Troy, NY, he is a son of the late Edmund and Lucy (Sylvestri) Phelan.

On June 12, 1971, he married his surviving wife, Nancy H. (Haller) Phelan, with whom he was blessed to share over 51 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca C. Phelan of Burnham; a granddaughter, Chloe J. Schlegel of Mifflintown; a great grandson, Matteo R. Phelan of Port Royal; and a brother, Philip Phelan of Lafayette, CO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jed D. Phelan on June 21, 2022.

Mr. Phelan was a 1965 graduate of Lewistown Area High School and was a member and co-founder of Good News Lutheran Brethren Church in McAlisterville.

In his earlier years, David enjoyed golfing, traveling, and playing board games. He was always the winner of Trivial Pursuit.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed listening to many kinds of music, having meals with family and friends, and pampering his beloved feline, Willow. His brightest smiles came from being with his grandchildren and great grandchild.

He will be remembered for his quick wit and humorous pranks.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, 32868 Route 35 North, McAlisterville with the Rev. Michael Edwards and Pastor Marc Sperlich officiating. Interment will be private.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Phelan’s memory can be made to the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, 32868 Route 35 North, McAlisterville, PA 17049.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
