Rev. Crystal Lyde, 67, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
She was born on May 16, 1955 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Ralph Rogers and Caroline Leach.
Mrs. Lyde graduated from Harrisburg High School enjoying her time in the band front as a majorette. She received her Associate’s degree from HACC and continued her education obtaining her Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Lancaster Theological Seminary.
Crystal began her career as a Harrisburg City Police Officer and continued her success as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, serving as the first female minority spokesperson.
After retiring from the PA State Police, she transitioned to become a passionate intercessor, prayer warrior, and servant of Christ. She served as the Pastor of both Mexico and Port Royal Presbyterian Churches of PA.
Surviving are her children Carol Purdy of Harrisburg and her son Harrison Purdy Jr. of Pittsburgh, 4 grandchildren, Tyler Hinson, Desiree Kitsmiller, Anali Purdy, Eli Thabateh, and 2 great granddaughters Skyler Hinson and Avery Hinson, and a host of relatives and friends.
Her life was one of passion, devotion, love, and enjoyment of everyone’s success. She wholeheartedly believed in the power of the Holy Spirit and this angel will be greatly missed.
A committal ceremony will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA. Pastor Megan Boozer will officiate.
