OBITUARY for VIOLET R. VAN SICKLE
MIDDLETOWN - Violet R. (Brackbill) Van Sickle, 80, of the Frey Village, Middletown, and formerly of Camp Hill, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the village.
Born Aug. 16, 1920, in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Della (Swartz) Brackbill.
Her husband, Eugene A. Van Sickle, died Dec. 9, 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise D. Van Sickle, New Cumberland; sisters and brothers, Mrs. John (Jessie) Fairman, Mifflintown RR3, Mrs. Donald (Alma) Husler Sr., Mifflintown, Otho Brackbill and Arthur Brackbill, both of Port Royal.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Adrienne Wright and one brother, Richard Brackbill.
She was a graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal. She retired with 15 years of service as a sales clerk and secretary from the Sears Store in Harrisburg.
She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Shiremanstown.
She enjoyed gardening, specializing in flowers and tomatoes.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Ronald Shupe officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Mifflintown RR4. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
