OBITUARY for RUSSELL L. HOSLER
Russell L. Hosler, 94, formerly of Mifflintown, passed away at 7:07 AM, Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.
Born on March 16, 1928 in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, he is the son of the late David and Lillian (Kauffman) Hostler.
On June 13, 1953, he married his late wife, Doris J. “Sis” (Leach) Hosler with whom he was blessed to share over 45 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on October 15, 1998.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat Kepler of Thompsontown and JoAnne Pennington of Lyons, Georgia; one daughter in law, Linda Hosler of McAlisterville; siblings, Joyce Hack of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, Robert Hostler of Richfield Senior Living Center, Richfield; one sister in law, Betty Lou Hostler of Mexico; six grandchildren, many great grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren.
Mr. Hosler was a proud veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Samuel D. Hosler; four sisters, Charlotte Foster, Wilma Yocum, Virginia Hosler, and Betty Brackbill; and two brothers, Jack Hostler and Homer Hostler.
He was a member of the Heaven Bound Church, Mifflintown.
In earlier life he was employed as a truck driver by, Sam Kint trucking, Mifflintown and later retired as a truck driver from Ohio Fast Freight.
Russell loved hunting with his dog, Digger, fishing especially trout, watching Penn State football with his family. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed NASCAR. Another favorite pastime was taking care of bird feeders and watching the birds.
All services are private for the immediate family with his nephews Pastor Casey Hostler and Pastor George Yocum officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Mifflintown (Licking Creek) where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mr. Hosler’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street, Suite 206, State College, PA 16803.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
