OBITUARY for WILLIAM H. MCLAUGHLIN
William H. McLaughlin, 93, of Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at Bethany Village.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired senior account executive from MetLife.
He was a volunteer for over 25 years with Downtown Daily Bread, Harrisburg. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church since 1959 and charter member of MetLife sales advisory council, home office, N.Y.
He was a member of West Shore Lodge 681, F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Zembo golf club and luncheon club, and National Sojourners Chapter 76. He was the events coordinator and harmonica player for the Zembo Shrine string band, past president, NAIFA of Greater Harrisburg, and received the Man of the Year award for the Harrisburg general agents and managers.
He was born March 24, 1928, in Port Royal, to the late Harry S. and Martha (Goodman) McLaughlin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Emma (Kreigh) McLaughlin, and siblings, Betty Campbell and Charles.
He is survived by three daughters, Cathy L. Christopher (Eric) of Alpharetta, Ga., Lisa A. Burke (Thomas) of Canton, Mich., and Amy E. Holden (Craig) of Hatboro; a brother, James of Mifflintown; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Christ Presbyterian Church. Interment services with military honors will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Township.
