OBITUARY for WILLAVENE L."WILLIE" DONALDSON
Willavene L. "Willie" Donaldson, 93, of McAlisterville, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:11 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the Richfield Senior Living Center.
Born on Sept. 30, 1926 in Turbett Township, Juniata County she is the daughter of the late Harry O. and Janet R. (Neff) Lauver Sr. On Dec. 20, 1944 she married her late husband, Jesse L. Donaldson with whom she was blessed to share more than 26 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 31, 1971.
Surviving are: four children, Kathi Griffin and her husband, LeRoy, of Newport News, Va., Nancy Smith and her husband, Roy, of McAlisterville, Rose Motter and her husband, Bob, of Marysville, Edward Donaldson and his wife, Pamela, of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Madeline Donaldson, of McAlisterville; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way in July 2020.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, George C. Donaldson II and James L. Donaldson; her second husband, Leroy Page; and her twin brother and sister, Harry Lauver Jr. and Eleanor Taylor Lease, making her the last of her generation.
Mrs. Donaldson was a 1944 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown and was retired as a seamstress from the former Nettie Frock's Sewing factory. She will be remembered from her time working in the concession stand in the infield at the Port Royal Speedway from 1971 to 1996.
Willie enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting and bowling; however, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
A public memorial service is being scheduled and will be announced later.
At this time all services are private with Pastor Michael Edwards officiating and interment will be private and take place at the McCulloch?s Mills Cemetery in Honey Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street, Suite 206, State College, PA 16803.
