The following article appeared in a 1889 edition of one of Juniata County's newspapers: "Dr. G. M. Graham, one of Port Royal's most enterprising citizens, has placed a heavy wire cable across the Juniata at the river bridge, making an excellent ferry, which is a great accommodation to the people in that section of the county. It is well patronized, which we are glad to hear."
