OBITUARY for MILDRED 'MILLIE' GRACE BRACKBILL HENDRICKS
Mildred "Millie" Grace Brackbill Hendricks, 83, of Mifflintown, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center due to heart complications.
Born on January 6, 1939, in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Gable and Myrtle Edna (Smith) Brackbill. She was a gift to all who knew her, which is appropriate given that her middle name was Grace. It's a reminder of God's most incredible gift of grace in our lives, and the subject of her favorite hymn, beloved by many, "Amazing Grace."?
Surviving are her children, Denise A. Leister of Port Royal, Dawn A. Hallock and her husband Troy of Reedsville, and Robert L. Hendricks, Jr. and his wife Karen of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, Kristina Dressler and her husband Chad, Karly Henry and her husband John IV, Isaac Hallock, Katelyn Hendricks, Kellyanna Hendricks, and Kyle Hendricks; seven great-grandchildren, Brody Noerr, Emmy Dressler, Nick Dressler, Ty Dressler, Dayden Henry, Dawson Henry, and Deekan Henry; two siblings, Earl Brackbill of Mechanicsburg and Edna Lauver of Lititz; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband Robert L. Hendricks, Sr., and ten siblings, Vera Harpster, Elmer Brackbill, Doreen Adams, Anna Pearl Fry, Velma Ellingsworth, Roberta Kepner, Rachel Weaver, Albert Brackbill, Raymond Brackbill, and George Brackbill.
Millie was a 1956 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal and had attended classes for District Justice Administration at Shippensburg State College.
She began her career as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone in Philadelphia; next, she was a secretary for Laird Hagee Insurance in Harrisburg; after that, she worked in bookkeeping for the Commissioner's Office and Voter's Registration for Juniata County; next, she was a record keeper for the Juniata County Sheriff's Office; a domestic relations officer for Juniata County; then a domestic relations officer for Dauphin County; and was employed and retired as an administrative assistant in the office of District Justice Rick Williams for Mifflin County.
Millie was an avid bowler from 1963 until 2008, and she competed in many local, state, and national tournaments. Appropriately, her bowling ball was her favorite color, purple.
Millie loved the Lord, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Juniata County in Mifflintown. One of her most beloved Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family, especially at annual family reunions. Therefore, it would be her greatest joy to be remembered as a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who radiated Christ's love to all. It would be her heartfelt wish for all who knew her to continue sharing the love and light of Jesus, in her memory.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 23964 Route 35 North, Mifflintown, with Pastor Ronald Shupe, Pastor John Walters, and Pastor Caleb Hanna officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Millie Hendricks' memory to the First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 23964 Route 35 North, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crum Mills Road, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
