Ernest Gibbons is a son of Robert Lester "Bink" and Betty Louise (Rhoads) Gibbons. He is a 1967 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School.

OBITUARY for ERNEST N. 'ERNIE' GIBBONS

Ernest N. "Ernie" Gibbons, 71, of Honey Grove, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at his residence.

Born on September 21, 1949 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Robert L. and Betty L. (Rhodes) Gibbons. On September 14, 1973, he married his surviving wife, Karen L. (Murphy) Gibbons with whom he was blessed to share more than 47 years of marriage.

Surviving are: two daughters, Bobbi Renee Gibbons and her companion Maynard Bailey of Middleburg and Lisa Henry and her husband Brian of Mifflintown; five sisters, Brenda L. Hutchinson of Honey Grove, Shirley D. Clouser of East Waterford, Susan A. Garrett and her husband Charles of Honey Grove, Mary F. Gibbons of Port Royal, and Robin L. Gibbons of East Waterford; and five grandchildren, Charles Haynes, Casey Stolzer, Kip Bailey, Travis Henry, and Marissa Henry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester Gibbons, Rich Gibbons, Don Gibbons, Clair Gibbons, and Larry Gibbons Sr.

Mr. Gibbons was a 1967 graduate of the Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal and honorably served our county in the US Army Infantry during the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart Award.

Ernie was employed and retired as a Mechanic at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Next, he was employed and retired a second time with the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Currently, he co-owned, along with his wife, Harling's Hoagie Shop in Mifflin.

His hobbies included woodworking and hunting; however, his great joy came from time spent with his family. He will long be remembered by his family as a true family man.

All Services will be Private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
