OBITUARY for JAY G. ARMSTRONG
Jay G. Armstrong, 76, of Port Royal, died at 8:49 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at his home.
Born on May 19, 1940, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late J. Roy and Helen D. (Horning) Armstrong. On Aug. 28, 1965, he married his surviving wife, Doris E. (Henry) Armstrong, with whom he was blessed to share more than 51 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kevin J. Armstrong and his wife, Lynnetta, and Lisa Seilhammer and her husband, Bruce; brother, Paul Armstrong and his wife, Betty, all of Port Royal; and three grandchildren, Ross Seilhammer, Garret Armstrong and Shalelyn Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a 1958 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
Jay, along with his brother, Paul, owned and operated Armstrong Brothers, which operated several farms and delivered agricultural products to local farms in the surrounding counties, until his retirement in 2012.
While farming was his passion, Jay made time for bowling and enjoyed going to fairs and tractor shows.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Faith United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in East Waterford Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
