OBITUARY for DOLORES A. SINGER

Dolores A. Singer, 84, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, and formerly of Port Royal, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at the village.

Born May 29, 1931, in Port Royal, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Mahlon A. and Mary E. (Comp) Benner. On March 4, 1953, she married her late husband, Carl J. Singer, with whom she was blessed to share more than 42 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1995.

Surviving are: her daughters, Pamela A. Solt and her husband, Ernest, of Lewistown, Tina K. Berrier and her husband, Gerald, of McAlisterville, and Jackie D. Dolan and her husband, Daniel, of Port Royal; siblings, Alton H. Benner and his wife, Mary, of Bloomsburg, Carleen H. Weiand, of Lewistown, Linda L. Zimmerman, of Mechanicsburg, Nancy K. Shirk, of McVeytown, and David W. Benner, of Camp Hill; six grandchildren, Kristy Solt, Jeremy Solt, Joshua Solt and wife, Danae, Katrina Dolan and companion, Chris Bryner, Candy Haubrick, and Constance M. Kepner; two step-granddaughters, Gwen Berrier, Alisha Huff and her husband, Queston; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Shearer, Tucker Bryner, Jasmine Harvey, Christopher Harvey, Bianca Kepner, and Adalyn Solt; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Blaze Jones, Paxton Huff, Paylon Huff and Zoie Berrier.

She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Robert E. "Bobby" Benner and Harold Benner; one infant brother, Gene Larue Benner; and a sister, Constance Baylor.

Mrs. Singer was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, also a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 143, Lewistown, and a former member of the American Legion Post 90, Lewistown.

Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed being a home maker. Earlier in life she worked at Corkins' Restaurant, Lewistown, and sold Avon Cosmetics. She loved playing cards, painting, traveling, doing puzzles and collecting angels; however her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the funeral home.
