Alice Naomi Baker, 77, of Port Royal, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:35 am at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. She was surrounded by her family during her passing.
Born on November 4, 1946 in East Waterford, she is a daughter of the late Merle and Savilla (Hockenberry) Gamble of East Waterford. On February 5, 1966 she married her surviving husband, Jerry L. Baker, they were married blissfully for 58 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons Bryan L. Baker of Port Royal and Jeff Baker and wife, Michelle of Plainfield, PA. She is also survived by three grandchildren Austin Baker and wife, Courtney of Mifflin, Tyler Baker of Tyrone, and Zach Baker of Boiling Springs. As well as a brother, Herman Gamble and wife, Janet of Port Royal, sisters, Peggy Feagly of new Bloomfield, Mary Jane Conrad and husband, Rodger of Shermansdale, Nancy Swartz and husband, Carl of Port Royal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Grace Smith of Ickesburg, PA.
Alice graduated from Tuscarora Valley High School in 1965. She was very well known throughout the area as she was a waitress at Zimmies Diner for over 27 years. Probably her biggest accomplishment was co-owning Trustworthy Travel with her husband, Jerry. They were in business for 27 ½ years. They were always so thankful for everyone’s patronage. Most patrons became like family.
Alice’s entire life always revolved around one thing, FAMILY…. “FAMILY FIRST”. She always put everyone’s needs and concerns above her own. She was the most giving and selfless person that was ever put on this earth. To those who knew her, she always put you above herself. When God recently called her home, the reason was simple: he needed another star in Heaven! May she rest in peace.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., Mifflintown. Interment will be private.
