Isabelle M. Hubler, 100 of Spruce Hill, passed into the loving arms of her lord and savior Jesus Christ at 11:21 p.m., on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her home with family by her side.
Born on October 9, 1921 in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late William D. and Anna E. (Haines) McKnight.
On September 30, 1942, she married her late husband, William E. Hubler, with whom she was blessed to share almost 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 21, 1991.
Surviving are daughters Nancy Hubler of Lewistown, Janet Stitt and her husband Earl of Honey Grove; grandchildren James E. Campbell and his wife Karen of Honey Grove, Dawn L. Bonsell and her husband Steve of Mechanicsburg; great grandchildren Kyle W. Shoop of Arizona, Hannah Q. Weaver and her husband Kyle of Mt. Joy, Emily B. Muffitt and her husband Zakry of Indiana, Pa.; great-great grandson Dax Shoop of Arizona.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gary L. Shoop, two sisters and four brothers, making her the last of her generation.
Mrs. Hubler graduated from the Matamoras School House and Lewistown Beauty School, was a life-long member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church.
Isabelle had a lifetime love of learning and learned gardening, canning, quilting at a young age. She was also taught to milk the family cow, "Betty" while her Mom worked away as a midwife.
She was a wife and mother until 35, when she returned to her love of learning and went to beauty school and opened a beauty shop in her home. She owned and operated "Isy's Beauty Shop" for more than 50 years, wrapping perms, cutting and coloring hair and ensuring informal community chit-chat was successfully maintained.
She enjoyed travelling with her husband Bill to the Bahamas, Antiqua, Montana and Canada. She also travelled with family and friends across the country on mystery trips, train trips and bus trips.
All services will be private with the Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Hubler's memory can be made to the Matamoras United Methodist Church, 105 East Fifth St, Port Royal, PA 17082.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
